Impulse e.max adds additional options for shade selection and clinical applications.  There are three Value blocks and two Opal blocks.  The Value blocks are recommended for crowns, veneers, and partial crowns (value increases from V1 to V3).  The block match is determined by brightness.  The Opal blocks are indicated for thin veneers.  Download the PDF to view firing cycle (which is different than the HT and LT e.max

Check the spacer in the Design Screen by viewing underside of restoration (remove Model Box in the Analyzing tools).  This will provide assessment for spacer.  Important…check the spacer first after proposal of restoration.  If Spacer needs to be increased because of spacer shine through assessment, the full proposal will be repurposed rather than just the spacer being altered as we saw in 3.85.  In most cases, I am not seeing spacer binding issues in 4.0 full crown mills with a 60-80

Had a great CEREC 4.0 workshop today!  Milled allot of e.max and 3M LAVA Ultimate restorations.  The photo display restorations were designed and finished by one of the attendees (3M LAVA Ultimate blocks).  Great job!  CEREC 4.0 is moving CAD/CAM dentistry to a new level of precision and morphological reality with the Biogeneric software.  Thanks Sirona for providing the field with incredible equipment/software and Ivoclar, VITA, and 3M for reliable materials.

The new optical algorithms provides more flexibility for better stitching between captured images and camera angles while taking the optical impression. This is a significant update for CEREC 4.0. In fact, Dr. Klim considers optical impression of 4.0 to be the most impacting for CEREC use in the clinical theater.

CEREC 4.01 provides an incredible acquisition optical flexibility as compared to prior versions of the CEREC software.  I now have the flexibility to capture full buccal, lingual, mesial, and distal undercuts in my optical images without image distortion and fit challenges.

There are a few remaining 4.0 hiccups we need to work around as CEREC clinicans.  This video will point out the hiccups and how to get around them.
