In-office CAD CAM and printing provide a dental practice with flexible treatment integrations and benefits. These systems have been limited for years, but with DS Core, the capture of oral digital information has opened the CEREC system and can now work with other software and CAD CAM systems.

What options are available for a CEREC user if the bridge design is incompatible with the CEREC block? With the open CEREC system enabled by the DC core, users have the flexibility to transfer the file to a digital lab or enhance their in-office milling capabilities using 5-axis milling systems such as the MP7/Ivoclar, allowing them to complete the restoration process on-site. Thanks to advancements in AI software and open systems, a wider range of digital applications can now be maintained within the digital office.

The cloud developed by Dentsply Sirona, DS Core, has been good for the digital world in dentistry.  Not only does the cloud service make CEREC and Inlab an open system, but digital imaging systems across the board can now be uploaded to DS Core, and this cloud service offers file conversion to software design options outside of the Dentsply Sirona ecosystem.  This is a gift to the profession.  But more exciting, it will bring down the cost of digital dentistry for those who want to get into in-office CAD/CAM, printing, and exporting to design and aligner services.  As these new opportunities open up, we will highlight these digitalRead more

We have the aesthetic secret sauce for e.max, ceramics in general, and zirconia.  For e.max, there is MiYO 850, designed for pre-crystallization application if desired.  The other alternative is MiYO Esthetic, with a lower fusing temperature of 725 and can be used on all ceramics and zirconia.  The value of MiYO is the color translucency, providing a natural depth effect once fired.  And what one observes in application in the wet state will be what one sees once fired. This video reviews MiYO applications for in-office use and dental laboratories.

The introduction of Primescan 2 is creating a new investigated surge for in-office CAD/CAM. Now, with DS core, we are entering a new world for open systems and building unique CAD/CAM system matches in the office.  The Primescan 2 is a cloud scanner for both in-office CAD/CAM users and online cloud options for digital labs, ortho, and design centers.  So, the future of dentistry can now mix a Trio scanner via DS Core to inLab and then mill on a Primemill or MC XL. In the future, this site will provide recommendations for creating a unique in-office CAD/CAM system to meet the operator's needs.

Yes, my MC XL saved my day several weeks ago.  I love the conservative restoration for posterior and anterior veneers.  I have used CEREC for two decades, and this system and upgrades have provided a fulfilling 20 years of practice.  As you may have observed, I am branching out to other mill systems and software, using the Primescan for imaging.  There are limitations to getting around the 4-axis mill for conservative restorations.  One advantage of the MC XL over the Primemill is the left step bur 12.  The diameter is the smallest diameter we have at about 0.85 mm for Fine Mill and Extra Fine Mill.  I will go through this advantage inRead more
