Internalizing color for zirconia dental restorations is an effective way to enhance saturation zones and control value. In my hands, I have found this approach to work well in particular for 3Y zirconia and also Katana and ZirCAD Multi.

Part one video in BioJaw anterior design series. The way I save time in my anterior design theater is to go into the case preplanned with a wax-up which I now do in inLab, print the model and use the wax-up as a reduction guide and basis for making provisionals when needed.  Time-saving comes from being certain with preparation reduction protocols for the case and then propose and refine with BioJaw, still using a BioCopy component to guide the BioJaw placement.  One thing unique to this case review is the strategy used to block out a dark root.

As a dental clinician, I am so grateful for digital technology and excited about what the Primescan by Dentsply Sirona will provide in accuracy and ease of imaging. This video documents my very first imaging step to achieve predictable occlusion with our milled restorations and avoiding high occlusion. Having traveled the all-ceramic road for over thirty years, I have a great appreciation for some of our current high-strength ceramic options such as e.max, Suprinity, Amber Mill, and Celtra. Two universal stain and glaze systems that are working well on these ceramic systems are Ivocolor by Ivoclar, and MiYO by Jensen. This video is my technique for using Ivocolor for characterizing the incisal edge of e.max. Looking forward to sharing time with my CAD/CAM colleagues.

Title of Presentation: Primescan in the Functional and Aesthetic Clinical Theater

Primescan elevates the clinician's use of the digital platform for more than restorative procedures.  This course will suggest clinical applications and templates from digital record collection, appliances, and the single tooth to comprehensive restorative care.

Sometimes it happens, software crash!  These are issues we occasionally need to work through, particularly with new equipment or software rollouts.  There is no exception for Primescan.  This video is about one of those incidents.  I really had to go after due diligence to save the case.  Fortunately, when I do a CEREC workflow with multiple units or that is unique, I have a habit of saving the case (Save AS) before starting the software design flow.  Having more than one file for a case can save the day!

Even with a fully automated model screen, there are four checks I use before proposing to assure restorative fit.  This video will share my model screen hacks to save the day.  CEREC 4.61 and 5.0 software versions are the same, just different graphics interphase.  The principles of this video apply to the 4.61 software version as well.

Now that I have had the Primescan for a few months, I have a good feel for it and find significant ease in the scanning compared to its CEREC predecessors, sharp margin viewing, and smooth flow of the software process. I am finishing my bread and butter restorative dentistry 12-15 minutes ahead of schedule on the average.  This videos will review my top Primescan assets and how it can impact your clinical theater.

Katana STML is the first of the available chairside multi-gradient aesthetic zirconia options for chairside CEREC milling. The sintering time in the Sirona SpeedFire furnace is in the 18:00-minute range. This is an incredible fact!  A significant advantage for a multi zirconia application is that the aesthetic gradient is already in the pre-milled block. All we do is choose the matching color shade, mill, and polish after sintering.  This video will demonstrate the effective finishing steps for Katana STML using the Klim Institute Meisinger Zirconia Lab Kit JK04.
